Grape Varietal— Gewürztraminer

Krinklewood's third attempt at Orange wine features an exclusive label by renowned Brooklyn-based artist Wayne Pate

His celestial and Byzantine-inspired design perfectly reflects the wine’s ethereal elegance, capturing the surreal calm and warmth of early summer evenings under the Australian sky.

Crafted with 100% Organic and Biodynamic Gewurztraminer grapes, the 2024 Sauvage Orange is a testament to devotion, patience, and artistry. Traditional techniques—foot-stomping, fermentation on skins, and gentle basket pressing—unveil an enchanting palate of orange rind, tangerine, and subtle whispers of clove and ginger.

Unfiltered and bottled in-house, each bottle stands as a unique reflection of its craftsmanship. It pairs beautifully with spicy, tangy Asian dishes—vibrant and daring, much like the wine itself.

Winemaker Valentina embraced a fully oaked approach, starting with fermentation in a one-tonne wooden vessel, layering in 10% whole bunches at the bottom of the tank for a delicate carbonic maceration. After four weeks on skins, it was gently basket-pressed and aged for eight months in a 500L puncheon. Malolactic fermentation introduced soft, buttery notes, rounding out its complexity.

The palate is rich in notes of grapefruit, with a complex tannic structure from the long skin contact period. More notes of peach tea come through with a zesty lingering finish. This wine is unfiltered & may appear cloudy in the glass.

Drink this wine young to enjoy all its potential.

Wayne Pate’s artistic journey has spanned decades, with his work featured in notable galleries and collaborations with global design houses such as Maison Margiela, West Elm, and Tory Burch. His pieces often evoke a sense of tranquility and timelessness, drawing inspiration from classical motifs and the natural world.

His contribution to this vintage, Sister Moons Visible In The Botanica Sky, marks his debut in wine label design. “This piece reflects the expansive calm of early summer evenings in Australia,” Pate explains, “blending Byzantine-inspired hues with a surreal, dreamlike stillness.”

Having lived in New Zealand, Pate shares a deep connection to the Southern Hemisphere’s landscapes and skies, which influenced his vision for this work. The result is a label that mirrors the wine itself: complex, evocative, and deeply rooted in nature.

The 2024 Sauvage Orange is both a visual and sensory masterpiece, uniting winemaking and fine art in perfect harmony.
