2009 Krinklewood Estate Sémillon
Grape Varietal— Semillon
A lovely golden straw colour, this very special Semillon has been ageing gracefully at Krinklewood since being bottled in 2009. This wine is still showing remarkable freshness on the palate with loads of citrus zest and natural acidity. The aged characters are developing nicely with subtle notes of lanolin, herbed butter, hints of honey and citrus blossom accompanied by a lovely round full palate.
The fruit was crushed with only the premium free-run juices being used. Fermentation took place in Stainless Steel tanks under cool conditions, and the wine was bottled early to retain the freshness of the primary fruit characters, and minimal filtration.
We believe 2009 was one of those ‘best vintages’ for Krinklewood and for Semillon. Consistent warm temperatures throughout the growing season produced generous volumes overall. The Semillon berries were picked at optimum ripeness in the cool of night on February 1st and 2nd at 10.4 Baume
